Rayla is currently working a Professionals Regulation Lawyer for a public regulatory body where she specialises in fitness to practise work. She has worked for a number of public bodies including HMRC where she worked in the strategic tax litigation team.
Before joining the Civil Service, Rayla was employed as an in-house lawyer for a legal charity based at the Royal Courts of Justice where she provided legal advice and representation at the Central London County Court and High Court in a wide range of litigation disputes on behalf of litigants unable to access legal aid or afford legal representation. During her time at the Charity, she worked closely with the Access to Justice Foundation successfully obtaining significant costs orders in their favour. She became a Costs Ambassador for the Foundation as a result of her work.
Rayla regularly raises awareness campaigns on international human rights abuses including Kashmir, Yemen and the recent attacks on minorities in India. Rayla is the Secretary and panel member of the London Muslim Community Forum who work with the Metropolitan Police on a community level.
In her spare time, Rayla regularly supports local community projects including charities with their work.
