Citizens For Sanctuary
The long-awaited CITIZENS for Sanctuary booklet which tells ordinary people what they can do to ‘save sanctuary’ is now available. The funky booklet digests the Independent Asylum Commission’s 180 recommendations into 10 key issues and solutions, and then suggests practical actions for citizens to implement the Commission’s recommendations in their community.
SAVING SANCTUARY PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION LAUNCHED ON THE SOUTH BANK - Saving Sanctuary juxtaposes the portraits and stories of those who have fled horrific situations in Zimbabwe, Darfur and Kosovo, and found sanctuary in the UK, with portraits of ordinary British people who explain where they find sanctuary.
Saving Sancturay Photographic Exhibition
Produced by award-winning photographer, Sarah Booker, for the CITIZENS for Sanctuary campaign, the exhibition was created in response to a warning by the Independent Asylum Commission that the long-term future for the UK as a place of sanctuary is ‘bleak’ unless an ambitious attempt is made to restore public support. The exhibition presents a stark warning about the imminent decline of the age-old British tradition of providing sanctuary to people fleeing persecution, and tells the story of a unique attempt by ordinary citizens to set the policy agenda in one of the most controversial areas in British political life.
